I started lessons again in my 40s as an already trained pianist. I trained as a “kid” until I was 18 and left high school. As I got older, I missed playing, so I bought myself a piano and promised myself I would play again. With that, I needed help. Through my piano tuner, I found Brett. He knew enough, with my classical training, to pair me with Catherine. She has helped shape my training, with the right pieces, to excel in my performance. (I ultimately do not wish to be the best performer for a crowd, but Catherine has helped me to be the best performer for me, which actually makes me prouder to perform in front of a crowd). Her patience and belief in me helps me to practice those days I don’t want to. Her enthusiasm pushes me to do more than I believe I am capable of. Brett is great with both of my kids. He tailors to their very different learning and musical styles. He always meets them where they are and makes their time together so much fun. They don’t even realize how much they are learning – which is a lot. In addition to how to play the piano, he teaches them about music and to appreciate music. Brett is a real gem!
